Scientists have invented 56 varieties of crops with Radiation Technique, now you will get more yield with strong quality

Commercial Farming: In today’s modern era, almost all the work has been connected with technology. With the help of science, development is going on in every sector. Agriculture sector is also not untouched by this development. In the agriculture sector, work is being done to reduce the cost by using new technology and machines. With the help of crop science, it has become easy to get better production of crops. Scientists believe that by using nuclear and radiation technology in agriculture, not only crop production can be increased, but also the quality of the produce can be improved.

These techniques will also help a lot in storing the produce. At present, the scientists of Bhabha Atomic Research Center have developed 56 varieties of different crops with the help of radiation technology, which can be used for commercial farming. These will prove to be helpful in obtaining good quality produce and higher yields and ensuring food security.

Why crop production decreases
According to media reports, radiation technology was discussed in detail in the ‘NIC-STAR 2023’ conference held in Kochi, Kerala. Officials of ‘National Association for Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation Industry’ (NAARRI) were also present in this conference. During this NAARRI Secretary P.J. Chandy told that four things are responsible for the decline in crop production.

  • Farming practices messed up
  • Decreased availability of water
  • Infestation of pests and diseases
  • Using wrong variety of crop

He told that due to lack of information about which variety should be cultivated at which place, the production of agriculture is reduced. Other reasons also increase the possibility of damage to the crop.

Nuclear technology will give the right production
In his address, P.J. Chandy also said that getting the produce after harvesting and storing it safely is also a big challenge in itself. Many such problems in agriculture can be solved with the help of nuclear technology.

To get better results from this technique, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai has also done a special research. Here 56 varieties of different crops have been developed using radiation technology. These varieties have been created through mutagenesis and cross breeding, which will help in increasing production from commercial farming.

Which varieties were invented
Scientists of Bhabha Atomic Research Center have developed 16 varieties of groundnut, 8 varieties of moong dal, 8 varieties of mustard, 7 varieties of rice with nuclear and radiation techniques. Variety, 5 varieties of Arhar and Urad, 2 varieties of Cowpea and Soybean have been invented.

Also includes one variety each of linseed seed, sunflower and jute. According to experts, the biggest benefit of farming with these varieties invented by radiation technology will be seen at the time of production, because farming with these varieties will result in larger crop production and higher yield.

This variety will also reduce the cost of crop production, as it consumes less water and the incidence of pest-diseases is also less.
